So Nintendo's finally publicly admitted that the motion detection in the Wii has sucked from day one. We've all had our fair share of frustration with it. The wiimote isn't accurate, isn't reliable, and you end up looking like a fool trying to get it to work properly. That's been my experience with it, at least. But now, Nintendo has heard my cry and is making an attempt to right their wrongs...
That's right. The wiimote is supposed to become 100% better a year from now with the help of a clip-on attachment called MotionPlus that fits right on the bottom of the controller. As seen in the picture, it makes the wiimote much longer, but this tiny attachment, which I'd imagine will sell for around $29.99, is supposed to have a bunch of new hi-tech gadgetry crammed inside about a cubic inch's worth of space. So much that it will drastically alter the responsiveness of the wiimote enough to make a noticeable difference. This sounds just like what I've been waiting for. I don't like the idea that we'll have to pay for it, since it should come standard. But hey, maybe Nintendo will offer current Wii owners the opportunity to get some MotionPlus blocks (if that's what they'll be called) free of charge, just like they did with the wiimote gloves. I seriously doubt that'll happen, but there's always hope!
